Art is so important for us.

This pictures me at the Museum of Ixelles. I was allowed to choose an artwork that would later be exhibited in my apartment.

I had another picture in mind. But I chose them, not knowing what they would mean to me.

Afterwards, I was told about their history.
They were a married couple. Both painters.

The husband had exhibitions were he would let his wife show her work, under her own name. In a time where women weren’t allowed to sign their own work.

This painting and these people on the painting showed me that relationships are not necessarily crushing. That people manage to uplift each other in their journey.
That men will not necessarily crush my dreams and creative life.

That there is a compromise.

I started to heal. And art did that for me
And always has.

My friend said that all my pain is visible in my eyes.

He’s right.

But please look at my pain, and know that I am healing. I have no more shame in showing that I too, am human.
